With most of the Knowmads clan off on holiday or hanging out in the woods in Germany the past 2 weeks, we’re all back in town and Knowmads Project Mayhem (KPM) starts today!
These 3 weeks of organizing KPM have been quite a learning experience for the organizing team. We’ve been getting people on board, figuring out exactly how the process of KPM will happen, what needs to happen in order for KPM to have the most success, and how we’re going to share the KPM experience with the world. We’ve had to be vague in some areas because we honestly don’t know how things will pan out in the month of MAYhem. The best we can do is give a foundation and then be as adaptable as we can.
Two of our lovely tribe 5′ers, Neza and Anna, stepped up to take on the role of facilitators during KPM. Without their help, guidance, and organization skills, we would not be in the prepared state we are in today. They came up with a game plan on how to organize KPM in all facets including how to use the work space, communication tools like mailboxes and message board, and a huge calendar in the hall of Knowmads. I know that I have learned a lot from them in the last couple weeks about project preparation. It boggles my mind how it seemed to take them so little time to come up with everything and I feel like they covered all the bases. Good job ladies! I hope to one day obtain those skills.
We’ve also had great support from the Knowmadic Learning Lab (KLL). I find that those involved really love the idea of KPM and are up for a huge month of challenges and mayhem. Yeah, they’re pretty darn excited about it. Lots of entrepreneurial minds and students committed to doing whatever it takes to see what they can accomplish in 30 days. Yeah baby!
So yes, when it comes to the projects, we thought we were going to have a problem getting enough projects into KPM. Turns out we have over 25 projects to choose from for MAYhem and more than 30% are from outside Knowmads. I’m just gonna go ahead and call it like I see it…SUCCESS! If you haven’t already checked out all the projects then head over to the Project Mayhem website.
The next thing on my mind is how to turn KPM into a successful marketing tool. Will I be able to handle organizing/planning the sharing of the KPM experience AND participate in all the cool projects that are on the table? Some coaching may be in store for me. I feel the blanket of overwhelmingness coming close to me. Must. Take. Deep. Breaths…Yoga anyone?
Today’s the big day and by the end of it we’ll have 10 projects chosen and possibly more than 10 projects involved in MAYhem depending on the passion/commitment people have towards projects. It’s going to be one crazy month so remember to follow us and see how we’re doing the next 30 days. Hopefully we haven’t killed each other. What am I saying, we’re Knowmads. Only love here…And MAYhem!
