Nice and cozy feeling of your comfort zone

The last few weeks I’m intrigued by the concept of ‘stepping out of your comfort zone’. On Facebook I saw a picture with two circles. One with ‘comfort zone’ other with ‘where the magic happens’. The concept of this should be very easy. Step out of your comfort zone and explore the unknown. At Knowmads we have the tendency to say: step out of your comfort zone.

After thinking for a while I came to realise that this concepts is vague and just a way to say: Just do it, even if you can’t do it.

The problem here is, what the heck is in your comfort zone and what is out of your comfort zone. Sometimes I just don’t do things, because I don’t want to. Not because I can’t.

When people say you will grow and learn from being out of your comfort zone. The main problem about this concept is to define your circle. You can’t step out of your comfort zone if you don’t know where you drew your circle.

I love being in my comfort zone. It’s warm, it’s familiar, it’s a place that I know and feel comfortable in. A save place where you always can fall back on. I don’t believe in ‘stepping out’ of your comfort zone, because I don’t have a clue how to do it. I do believe in the fact you start in the middle of the circle and try to find your circle and expand your circle. Make it bigger and bigger.

Recognizing and acknowledging my own insecurity is my first step to growth and I only feel comfortable doing that when I am in a safe space. In this process it start by being afraid for showing your insecurity, but it will end by feeling confident by knowing your insecurity, because when you know this fact, you know where you can grow as a person.

I still don’t get the fact you want to step out your comfort zone and look for the magic. Just expand your circle and when you find magic, embrace it in your comfort zone :)

Love,

Duy
