This chair is really uncomfortable… I’ve been sitting in it for the past hour or so and now I can’t feel my legs anymore! I’m at Frankfurt Airport and I’ve been here since 10.30 AM (now it’s ca. 15.30 PM) and I will stay here until my flight back to Amsterdam leaves at 19.10 PM. Yes, there is a reason for this madness. Because, who would want to spend a whole day at an airport if (s)he can avoid it?

For the assignment from KLM 4 of the Knowmads are traveling to European destinations to experience what it is like to be a business traveler. This means not only working while on the plane, but also trying to work anywhere we can on the airport or en route to a final destination. Talking to passengers and all other things we can think of to do while at the airport!

My destination is Frankfurt. I took a flight from Amsterdam this morning at 8.50 AM, when the plane arrived in Frankfurt we were ca. 45 minutes delayed. I think by now I’ve seen every hallway this Airport has to offer. I sat in the check-in hall, the terminal, in the chairs at the gates. I’ve been at the café and in the shops. I’ve talked randomly to people. Now I think it’s time to try to get into the lounge! Although I try to look and act like a business traveler, I don’t actually fly BusinessClass and have no official access to the lounge. So this is going to be a challenge :)

So far, this day has been a challenge in itself, to keep myself occupied (wifi internet acces costs €8,00 per hour here!!), to try not to get the standard answers from passengers (not enough legroom on the plane), to find a spot where I can charge my laptop, etc. And this day is long from over. Good thing I don’t get bored easily!
