Dear Reader, this Blogpost and Free lecture about Swarm Leadership is written by Floris Koot. It´s already his second free lecture after ´The best Job Title in the world´
Enjoy it !!!
Anyone following the news saw last year quite some interesting phenomena’s. Occupy and the Arabic Spring rose up out of seemingly nothing. Clearly a tipping point had been reached. The same happened when the Berlin Wall fell or the Apartheid regime had but the choice to make things go violent or start a dialogue with Mandela. If huge active longings for change are resisted violence will emerge. Better to help them being born.
In his Book Homo Ludens wrote that we change society playing. Your ideas and mine intermingle into something new. This intermingling of actions, reactions, dialogue, debate, strive and co-creation is the key to all societal change. Plans can be made, some will work, other fail. But more and more people feel losing grip. And I say, control never has never been real anyway. I say more and more we are aware of the interconnectedness of all things. And out of this interconnected interplay all new movements will arise. So the point is not to regain control; it is about hosting what wants to happen.
“Follow the Energy” is a fitting incentive at Knowmads to do just that. The road getting somewhere may be messy, may seem to lead nowhere or at the least nothing serious. But I see our students act from inner convictions to what they want to contribute. And while working to act from this, they may get lost into all kinds of processes. The trick they are learning is, that it’s not about stopping the process, or even to get clarity. It’s about moving on with all others and finding out what emerges. What emerges may differ from time to time, but when successful it always reflects what the students together wanted to happen. They play a new reality into existence.
Does that sound messy, weird or out of your zone?
Here is our new free lecture to help you understand that that is how these things work, how this is happening all around us, how it creates movements like Occupy and Arabic Spring and how it will influence our lives in the times to come, especially with all new media, and how we can help new movements to find direction, meaning and purpose. How we can co-organise or host what wants to happen? Let go of your current convictions about leadership, because Swarm is here to stay.
