Modern society is complex and faces different crises, or transformations.  This situation asks for people who can navigate in complexity and who understand the underlying currents and connections. Regular ways of learning and leadership no longer provide adequate solutions.

With the arrival of Internet education can no longer be the same. The role of the expert is changing; the role of a teacher is changing. We see many talented students not motivated by regular education. All around the globe they are searching for meaning and connecting with likeminded others. Knowmads belong to a new generation; they are curious and creative young people with the ability to lead. Knowmads demand much of themselves and life in general. They are entrepreneurial young adults with their hearts in the right place; individuals who want to make a positive difference in the world.

Head – Heart – Hands

Our purpose is to create a life-long learning community that starts with a one –year program. We work in a team setting and through action learning; meaning that we work with our heads, hearts and hands. Thinking, doing, and feeling are all equally important. As Charles Leadbeater says it the 20th century was to and for the people, the 21st century will be with and by the people.

Walking the talk

Knowmads is a business and a school. As a school we provide our students with interesting lectures, assignments, moments for reflection and everything else that it takes to learn, develop and grow. Students are co-owners of the school, creating the program together with the staff. Knowmads is a challenging but safe place for learning.

As a business we work with partners from both the private and public sector and NGO’s. With these partners we co-create on paid assignments. Our students work on the assignments, guided by the Knowmads staff. This gives our students the opportunity to (partially) earn their tuition fee back during their studies. Having ownership over the school is the best way to learn what entrepreneurship really is.
