1 Week Down in Project Mayhem

It’s been 1 week since we started Project Mayhem and I’m going to go out on a limb and say this may have been the most productive and busiest week thus far at Knowmads.

Monday we started off the week with our Monday Morning Breakfast followed by a quick green zone. Then Tribe 4 and 5 finally got to hear what Pieter Spinder was doing in America for 2 weeks more than a month ago. Unfortunately I had to take care of some work things in the middle of his presentation but I did get to hear that Knowmads has created a new relationship with the University of Minnesota, that Pieter finds it strange that American only bike on the weekends (and they do so with helmets!), and he got to experience the delicious taste of the legendary White Castle hamburgers (sliders) yum yum {sarcasm}. It would’ve been great if Pieter came back with frozen White castle sliders that you can find in almost every American grocery store. What a treat that would’ve been for all the Europeans!

After lunch we had our kickoff of Project Mayhem and concluded the day with the decision to go after 18 projects.  This was different than our original plan of picking 10 projects but at Knowmads there aren’t any rules; we go after what’s in our hearts.

From Tuesday on there were meetings set up throughout the day and on Wednesday many Knowmads had meetings scheduled the entire day. Who needs lunch? This is Mayhem.

By Friday, 2 projects were nixed from the Project Mayhem list; Furniture Finder and Natuur Super. However, they are not completely out of the Knowmads system. There’s potential for both to be worked on after Project Mayhem but for now the owners don’t have the time and energy to work on those projects and work towards completing the other 3-7 projects they are working on.

What else happened Friday? Project Mayhem was pitched another project!

This project was pitched by the guys at !SYOU, a co-designed sneaker company. Merijn from !SYOU stopped by Friday morning to give the Project Mayhem team the run down on their business, what they’ve been up to, and where they want to go. They are currently in the running for the Ben & Jerry’s Join The Core Business Competition and gave the Knowmads an interesting assignment that the Mayhem team couldn’t turn down. So another project is in the Mayhem pot!

Time is moving fast during Project Mayhem. We have a little over 20 days to accomplish our goals. Some projects are moving faster than others and a couple are still on the runway about to take off. Stay tuned to see how projects are going and if any projects are looking for help to achieve their goals. Maybe you could be our savior!
